All EC electrodes are affected by residue build up and age so they do need to be calibrated to maintain accuracy. All manufacturers of EC meters and testers recommend that you use their specific calibration solution. Most meter and tester manufacturers use high quality calibration solution mix and quality control for their own meters, so always use the correct Milwaukee Instruments calibration solution for your specific unit.
